Award Recipients to be Recognized at CONSTRUCT2010 & the Annual CSI Convention

CSI will present several awards throughout the CONSTRUCT2010 & the CSI Annual Convention in Philadelphia, May 12-14, 2010. The recipients are:
Fellowship
Fellows are nominated by their colleagues and selected by CSI's Jury of Fellows in recognition of their accomplishments in advancing construction technology, improving construction specifications, educating people in the construction industry or advancing the goals of CSI.

Distinguished Service Award: Paul Bertram, Jr., FCSI, CDT, LEED AP
The Distinguished Service Award is presented to an individual who has rendered distinguished service in the advancement of the Institute’s mission or in its administration. This award is one of the highest forms of recognition the Institute can bestow upon an individual.

Ben John Small Memorial Award: John Guill, CSI, CCS, CCCA, AIA
The Ben John Small Memorial Award is presented to a Professional Member and Certified Construction Specifier who has attained special proficiency and outstanding stature as a specifications writer.

Hans William Meier Award: Phil Kabza, FCSI, CCS, CCCA, AIA, SCIP and Robert Teller, FCSI, CCS, CCCA, LEED AP
The Hans William Meier Award is presented to a CSI member, firm or association that demonstrates exceptional commitment to CSI’s certification programs through the recognition of their value by advocating, implementing, educating, developing, utilizing and otherwise supporting the programs.

Excellence in Construction Information Award: "An Approach to Systems" Produced by Clark Nexsen and Specifiers Property Sets by Mark Kalin, FAIA, FCSI, CCS, LEED AP, SCIP and Bill East, PhD, PE
The Excellence in Construction Information Award was created by CSI and Specifications Consultants in Independent Practice (SCIP)  to recognize excellence, originality or creativity in processes, tools, or documents used in development or construction of the built environment.

Environmental Stewardship Award: DesignGroup and The University of Memphis Department of Architecture, CSI-S Chapter/TERRA House
The Environmental Stewardship Award is presented to an individual, team, chapter, region, firm, or organization for demonstrating environmental stewardship by: promoting environmental awareness in the construction industry; practicing sustainable design; or educating others in the advantages of designing for sustainability.

Construction Technology Award: Jeffrey Snyder, CSI, CCPR
The Construction Technology Award is presented to an individual, team, firm, or organization, for: development or use of new materials, methods, technology or project delivery systems; or development or use of existing materials, methods or technology in a new or innovative manner.

Robert P. Brosseau Memorial Award: R. Michelle Christen, FCSI, CCCA
The Robert P. Brosseau Memorial Award is presented to an Industry or Associate member who has rendered outstanding service to further the mission and programs of the Institute.

Andrew J. Drozda Memorial Academic Affairs Commendation: Thad Goodman, CSI
The Andrew J. Drozda Memorial Academic Affairs Commendation is presented to an individual or team that has made significant contributions to enhance the image and recognition of CSI, with one or more educational institutions offering construction-related curricula.

J. Norman Hunter Memorial Award
: Nina Giglio, CSI , CCS, Assoc. AIA, SCIP
The J. Norman Hunter Memorial Award is presented to an individual, team or chapter for attaining special advancement in the field of education or the establishment of educational facilities in specifications writing.

Student Liaison Award: Kris S. Benton, CSI and Dean Bortz, CSI, CDT
The Student Liaison Award is presented to an individual, team, chapter or region for preparing students of construction-related curricula to make a difference in the construction community.

Service Commendation: Bryan Varner, CSI, CCCA, LEED AP
The Service Commendation is presented to an individual, team, chapter or region that has made significant contributions to the technical or educational programs or goals of the Institute.

Technical Document Citation: Robert Kleinpeter, RA, CSI, CCS
The Technical Document Citation is presented to an individual, firm or organization for a single outstanding accomplishment in technical writing other than project specifications.

Continuing Publication Commendation

Presented for a continuing publication of interest or related to CSI. The publication must be issued no less than six times per year to be considered continuing. Examples include paper copy newsletters, electronically submitted newsletters, and syndicated columns.

Special Publication Commendation
Presented for a non-continuing publication that is of interest to or related to CSI. Special publications are issued less often than four times per year. Examples include rosters, directories, posters, calendars, operating guides, videos, and non-CSI publications.

Electronic Publication Commendation
Presented for a continuing or single special electronic publication related to the design and construction industry or to the activities of CSI. Examples include websites and electronic project management publications.
Dale C. Moll Student Activity Fund Award: Teresa K. Chan, CSI-S; James J. Doerfler, CSI – Sponsoring Faculty Member
The Dale C. Moll Student Activity Fund promotes awareness of CSI to students in construction related educational programs. Nominees must submit an essay on “design as it relates to the development of construction documents,” or “how the quality of construction documents relates to the constructor/construction process,” or “the role of construction documents as defined by CSI’s Project Resource Manual – CSI Manual of Practice, in improving quality of the construction process.”

Outstanding Chapter Commendation:
This award is presented to a chapter that meets designated core and elective criteria.
